How Can swollen And Painful Knee Be Treated?

I am having problems with swelling and pain in my right knee. I called a orthopedic surgeon today and can t get into his office until April 2017. I need to be able to use my right leg. Is there anything I can take to get rid of the inflammation in my knee? Due to gastric bypass 13 years ago I need something for NSAIDS.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query.
You should do some tests for a beginning to see if this is caused by degenerative issues or there is infectious arthritis. You should do xrays and knee punction if this is available at your GP office. Till that you need to rest, apply cold compresses and take paracetamol or diclofenac for inflammation supression. When the exact diagnosis is established then further treatment can be planned.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
